Perrin EvoX Front Mount Intercooler
The PERRIN EVO X intercooler takes what we have learned on the last EVO and applied it to the new EVO X. The new EVO has the benefit of the intercooler already being in the front of the vehicle, but the core is still a pretty restrictive. We have used the space Mitsubishi gave us and crammed the biggest most effective intercooler we could in there!
KEY POINTS TO INTERCOOLER DESIGN
An intercooler is not ground breaking at all, but our core is different and made to a level different than the competition. When we built our core, we made it as big as possible (not going to 4" thick which is a bit too thick in our opinion) and still using the FULL opening in the bumper. 4" Intercoolers do work, but the downfall is the thicker it gets the less effective it gets. Given 2 cores with the same volume, a thinner core that is bigger in all ambient directions is better than a super thick one that is smaller on the ambient side. There is enough room to make ours 4" thick but it does make it a very tight fit between the bumper and AC condenser. So some of our descision had to do with fit.
So if you look at our core you can't really even see welds because we made it as wide as we could (while still fitting between the AC lines and being able to connect to the boost tubes). Wider is better as there is more ambient cooling surface. Because of the high IC inlet temps, a bigger core on the Ambient side is important. The hieght of our core is also as big as we felt would still be functional. We could have gone taller but its just that much less of the core that gets air flow. So we made it as big as we could.
Our size of core is
PERRIN 20.75" x 12.375" x 3.625" = 930 cu-in Ambient cu-in 256cu-in

We didn't purposely make it bigger than others, we made it as best we could, which just happens to be a little bigger. Maybe we need to use that on our site......
We found the OEM isn't centered at all, so we fixed that (which is something not everyone has done). Our core is not an off the shelf core, its one we designed, and had built. While that does add cost, it does make ours that much better. Next up is the cast endtanks. These are also more expensive to make but flow better and look way nicer! This is not something people do initially on a new core because of cost. But this is the one thing we feel makes our part stand out from the rest.
There are lot of factors that go into making a proper intercooler, price, fittment, installation ease, size and functionality. We feel we have a very good balance of all these things.

The PERRIN Turbo inlet hose is larger diameter that the OEM part, and much smoother which is what makes the part make HP, and allows the turbo to spool quicker! A very important feature is this part doesn't effect the Air Fuel Ratio. Which is important to keeping your EVO running safe.

AEM Cold Air Intake System - EvoX
The new AEM Cold Air Intake kit for the 08-09 EVO X is one of the best and first mods you can do to your car. This system incorporates a fully enclosed airbox which houses a 3x5" DRYFLOW filter and uses the factory air duct to draw in the coolest air possible. The cross-linked polyethylene airbox leads into an aluminim CNC-machined MAF adapter which feeds the turbo by way of a high flow turbo inlet constructed of ultra-strong EPDM rubber. AEM has seen gains of up to 16.6hp and 17ft/lbs of torque with this system; making this a great bang for the buck.
AGP EvoX Front Mount Intercooler & Pipings
The AGP front mount intercooler for the 2008+ Evo X is a perfect addition to improve overall performance. The AGP FMIC features tig welded end tanks attached to a 20" x 12" x 3.5" bar and plate core. AGP designed their front mount assembly to fit perfectly in the factory location and does NOT require you to remove or trim any portion of the stock bumper support! AGP's Evo X FMIC also clears the factory lower under-tray so you do not need to remove it.
It cools at 90-99% efficiency under almost all conditions and has less than .75psi pressure drop at 450 hp of airflow. You couldn't heat soak this if you tried. Throughout AGP's dyno testing on the Evo X, they kept seeing timing retard (knock) around 5000rpm with the factory intercooler and 91 octane gas, where the power would drop. Since upgrading to their Evo X FMIC they noticed consistant power across the board due to a cooler air charge. Back to back pulls on the dyno now result in identical power curves due to no heatsoak on a car that has so far, made 430whp. This is a great upgrade for a stock Evo X, and will help you make more and more power down the road as you continue to add performance products to enhance the 4B11T.
The AGP FMIC kit includes their 20" x12 " x 3.5" bar and plate core, silicone hoses and clamps and all necessary installation hardware.
The aluminum intercooler hard pipe kit from AGP completely replaces the factory rubber hoses that can fail under high boost conditions. The 08-09 Evo X hard pipe kit from AGP relocates the factory blow off valve to the hot side tube gives the re-route a direct path back to the intake. The tubing is 2.5" diameter on the hot side and 3" diameter cold side featuring mandrel bent aluminum to ensure smooth flow. AGP also includes the required silicone couplers and hose clamps. This kit ensures the charged air coming out of the turbo charger has a smooth path into the engine while reducing the chance of a boost leak. The stock FMIC requires a 2.5" IC outlet coupler but an after market FMIC like the AGP unit requires a 3.0" IC outlet cuopler. Please choose accordingly below.
